RUN WITH THE STORM

The final cut off the album – it speaks for itself. Too idealistic? You betcha. Not exactly sea chanty material? You betcha. But rips anyway. My only regret is that the recording does not have Mark Romano’s fine accordion on it, nor his excellent guitar. Big sigh.

RUN WITH THE STORM

HAD A DREAM WE ALL SAILED TOGETHER

EVERY RACE, EVERY NATION AND FAMILY

ON THE SHIP SELF-DETERMINATION

FOR SHORES OF UNIVERSAL PEACE

BUT THE CRUEL WINDS OF CHANGE DREW UPON US

AND TOWERING WAVES OF CONFUSION

SEEMED TO TEAR THE SHIP ASUNDER

ON OCEAN OF DESTINY

AND I HEARD SOMEONE CALL, “HOLD THE HEADING

THO’ THE LIGHTS AND THE HARBORS OF HOME

SEEM A LONG WAY TO GO, AS ABOVE, SO BELOW

HOLD THE HEADING AND RUN WITH THE STORM”

THEN I ROSE FROM BED TO THE THUNDER

AND FIERCE WIND AND RAIN AT THE WINDOW

AND I PEERED THROUGH THE GLASS INTO DARKNESS

AND STRANGE REFLECTIONS GREETED ME

FOR I SAW PEACE IS STILL WITHIN REACHING

IN THE WAYFARIN’ HEART OF HUMANITY

AND I PRAYED FOR SAFE OCEAN CROSSING

FOR VOYAGERS EVERYWHERE
